MOW-BY-SAT : control system for automatic lawnmowers guided by satellites


First autonomous high precision steering by satellite system developed by NAV ON TIME, MOW-BY-SAT is designed to equip existing automatic lawn mowers which currently do not benefit from a guidance system nor from positioning, but require the mowing surface to be bounded with a buried wire. Such legacy technology brings some constraints that the MOW-BY-SAT solution allows to get rid of.



MOW-BY-SAT combines a highly reliable and accurate RTK positioning with an integrated automatic steering system allowing the user to define all the parameters for lawn mowing (limits of specific zones, height and direction of shearing ...).

A MOW-BY-SAT system installed on a Bigmow lawn mower from Belrobotics is being tested in real conditions of use, day and night on Téoula driving range.


MOW-BY-SAT is:


  • a hardware solution for high precision ( RTK) positioning: fixed base + embedded system
  • a software solution of steering by satellite customized to the automatic mower
  • a Human Machine Interface solution for planning and controlling the activity by the user
